Friends of the Shelter was established in 2010 with the primary goal of assisting our local shelter by fostering and finding qualified homes for some of the animals relinquished, impounded, and removed from abuse/neglect situations. In 2012 we established a low-cost spay/neuter clinic to assist low-income residents in the county have their dogs and cats sterilized to help combat pet overpopulation. Since 2010 we have placed over 1,200 dogs into well-qualified, loving homes and spayed/neutered over 1,600 cats and dogs.
You can help one of our dogs have a better chance of finding a “forever” home by becoming a part of our “FOCAS” group. “Friends” takes in many harder-to-place dogs that will benefit from having a sponsor for part of their adoption fee or the cost of care. Having a sponsor allows us to reduce the adoption fee or pay for medical care such as treatment for heartworm or mange. All donations are tax-deductible. If you would like to sponsor a specific pet or simply donate for any dog in need, contact us at: [email protected] . Or, click the PayPal DONATE button below. Every dog adopted through us saves two lives, that of the one finding a home and the next one we are able to pull from the shelter.
